This report showcases the scientific findings and policy recommendations of research by Water and Urban Initiative (WUI) conducted in eight Asian cities. The interdisciplinary approach of the research includes studies of future projections of water environment using technical models, analyzing people’s perceptions on water-related issues and willingness to contribute to improve the situation, and analyzing mitigation measures for climate change in wastewater management. The results, lessons, and practical recommendations highlighted in this report are important to successfully implement sustainable water management strategies and improve decision making processes in water-related sectors in those countries.

The main report can be downloaded from the Collections at UNU. The Summary for Decision Makers that summarizes the main findings and recommendations is also available here.

The GHG emission estimation tool, which was developed to evaluate the GHG emission from wastewater treatment plants and its potential reduction by introducing low carbon technologies can be downloaded here with the manual. See Section 3.9 of the main report for details.
